When you’re homeless, just surviving from one day to the next requires every ounce of energy you have.

At the Self-Managed Housing Program, we help homeless adults do more than just survive. We provide them with a safe environment and the opportunity to develop the skills they need so that they never have to worry about being homeless again.

We operate nine transitional homes in neighborhoods all over Seattle. Residents have their own rooms and share common areas with house-mates. Participants are all single adults, including young people and moms with kids, and they can stay with us for up to two years.

The Self-Managed Housing Program focuses on building self-sufficiency. With the help of our resource coordinator, our residents enroll in job training and work to gain educational qualifications and the services they need. They become leaders – meeting regularly to discuss house issues and the management of our program. When they are ready to make it on their own, we help them find permanent housing.

You can help
Lots of people are involved in making the Self-Managed Housing Program successful. If you want to help our residents move from crisis to hope you can:

  • offer your technical expertise
  • create housewarming baskets for residents
  • join a yard work party
  • sponsor someone in our program
  • donate
